Our Eco-Fabrics

Did you know that ordinary nylon is made of fossil fuels?

Instead of ordinary nylon, HALIA uses ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon for all our activewear. Unlike virgin nylon made from crude oil, a quickly-depleting resource, ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon transforms waste from landfills and oceans around the world into a new material. The material can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again, avoiding further wastage.

How is ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon made?

ECONYL process
The process starts with collecting waste that would otherwise pollute oceans and landfills. The waste is sorted and cleaned, and recycled back to its original purity. Then it is processed into yarns and polymers, which will be spun into fabric used in our activewear.
HALIA is officially listed on the ECONYL® website.

What are the sources of waste used to create ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon?

How does the waste get turned into fabric?

These  rescued waste is first  sorted and cleaned. Then  it  undergoes  a  regeneration  and  purification  process  that  restores  it  to  its  original  purity  -  at  this  stage,  its  properties  are  no  different  than  normal  nylon.  After  this  recycling  process,  it  is  made  into yarns and polymers, which will be spun into fabric used in our activewear.

We pay attention to certifications.

As sustainability gains voice, many fast-fashion companies are hopping onto the movement with claims of their sustainability. The truth of those materials made with recycled bottles? It is much easier to recycle new plastic water bottles, than to collect and sort post-consumer bottles. That is why we are wary of factories without proper certifications.

Fabric Care

At Halia, we put emphasis on valuing each piece of clothing. Proper care of your Halia products is important in ensuring their longevity. Use a mesh laundry bag to prevent excessive friction during a wash cycle and minimise microfibre shedding.

Shop The Good Laundry Bag here.

All our sports bras come with removable paddings. Hand washing is the best way to maintain their shapes. However, they are still machine washable. It is preferable to remove the paddings and hand wash them separately. Otherwise, please follow machine washing instructions.

For machine washing, we recommend the following:

Wash in a mesh laundry bag

Wash warm on synthetic cycle (40°C or below)

Do not use fabric softener

Do not bleach

Do not tumble dry

Iron cool

For drycleaning, any solvent except Trichloroethylene
